Brave young woman is captured on surveillance video fighting off an attacker trying to abduct her from a Philadelphia street in broad daylight

• The woman was captured on surveillance video struggling to fight off the man as she screamed for help 
• Police said the balding black man approached her from behind and grabbed her 
• She hit the man several times before he eventually let her go and he could be seen walking calmly away as the girl fled across the street 

A brave young woman was captured on surveillance video fighting off an attacker who was trying to abduct her on a Philadelphia street in broad daylight. 

The incident occurred on Sunday at about 10am on the 800 block of North 15th Street in North Philadelphia. 

Police are now hunting for the unidentified black man and have released surveillance images of him grabbing the woman from behind as she walked down the street. 

In the video, the woman could be seen struggling to fight off the man as she screamed for help.

She hit the man several times before he eventually let her go after a brief struggle.

The man could be seen calmly walking away as the girl fled across the street.

She quickly approached a group of people walking on the other side of the street and could be heard telling them that the man had attacked her.

‘He was just trying to abduct me,’ she said, according to CBS Philly. 

Police arrived at the scene soon after and questioned the woman. 

The resident whose doorbell camera captured the ordeal said he heard screaming at the time but didn’t think anything of it.

He then checked his front door security camera and realized what had happened.  

‘He definitely was trying to take her,’ the resident said. 

‘It’s a good thing she fought back. Maybe he was just trying to get out of dodge.’ 

Authorities described the suspect as a black male between 40 and 50 years old. He is about 5’8′ and was balding. 

He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, white shirt and dark jeans. 

Police said the woman was not injured during the ordeal.
