Police seize 17 dogs after schoolgirl, 6, viciously mauled by pack of XL Bullies

Police officers have seized 17 dogs after a six-year-old girl was mauled by a pack of huge dogs in Manchester.

Cops have confirmed that eight dogs and nine puppies have been taken from a property after the unnamed young girl was rushed to hospital on Sunday (March 26) afternoon after the attack in Carrington, Greater Manchester.

Three people who were arrested on suspicion of owning a dangerous dog have now been released on bail.

Detective Inspector Matthew Dixon, of Greater Manchester Police’s Trafford district, told The Sun: "This is a fluid investigation and so far we have recovered 17 dogs and made three arrests, as well as a vehicle of interest.

Video footage obtained by The Sun shows the girl being attacked by a group of dogs that appear to be a type of bully breed.

A neighbour who caught the horrific incident on CCTV said: "I was told the girl's older sister helped to fight off the dogs.

"It was horrendous. My own children could have been attacked out there.

"A detective told me they found 14 dogs on the property. Most of the dogs were stored in a caravan outside the house.

"We told police if they did not remove it we would torch it. So they took it away."

A pensioner who lives nearby to the site of the attack said she was pounced on by the pack of vicious dogs as the front door was opened.

The unnamed man said the girl was out playing in the street with her friends before she ran up a neighbours path to knock on their door.

"I have heard they were pitbulls. I know about dogs and what a pack can do,” he said.

Police said that the investigation into the horrific attack is ongoing, and urged members of the public with information to contact them, quoting log 1612-26/03/23.
