Plane crashes in fireball after hurtling off end of runway leaving no survivors

A plane has crashed in a fireball shutting down an airport as black smoke can be seen rising from the scene.

Corona Police and Fire confirmed the aircraft went down and they are trying to establish how many people are onboard.

Reportedly at four people were onboard plane and all of them were killed, with the plane broadcasting a mayday call before crashing near the runway.

Pictures from the scene show the light aircraft completely burnt out after firefighters managed to douse the flames.

Brush around the edge of the airport also caught fire when the plane smashed into the ground.

Video shows paramedics with stretchers on the scene as firefighters attempted to extinguish the blaze.

One witness said: "It tried to take off but didn't get enough speed. It took off about two feet above ground and then went back down three times.

"And then me and a friend of mine standing next to me both yelled 'he's gonna crash'."

Corona Fire Department confirmed the aircraft was carrying around 80 gallons of fuel when it crashed.

In a statement, Corona Police said: "Today about 12:11 P.M. The Corona Fire Department and Corona Police officers responded to the Corona

"Airport regarding a airplane crash. Upon arrival personnel located one plane on fire in the brush.

"Our fire personnel are working on extinguishing aircraft and brush.

"The aircraft crashed on the East side of the airport. We are working on determining how many people were on board this aircraft."

The airport was closed as crews continued to asses the damage.
