Piers Morgan has reignited his long-standing clash with Bette Midler as he dubbed her a “woke liberal”.

The controversial personality has hit out at Midler in the latest chapter of their long-running row over Meghan Markle.

The Good Morning Britain presenter was told to ‘f**k off’ by the actress last month after he posted a video showing the Duchess of Sussex urging others to vote in the US election.

He had captioned the clip: “Queen must strip the Sussexes of their titles. They can’t remain as royals and spout off about foreign elections in such a brazenly partisan way”.

After Middler’s profanities, Morgan tweeted the hashtag “be kind.”

Morgan continued the feud with the Hollywood star after she tweeted commentary during a speech given by Donald Trump’s wife, Slovenian born Melania.

Midler wrote: “Oh God she can’t speak English:”

Piers, 55, replied: “Oh God. Bette Midler’s a racist”.

Now Morgan has used his Daily Mail column to further stoke the feud.

He said: "Meghan Markle has flagrantly breached royal protocol by urging Americans to vote against President Trump in the forthcoming US election, telling an online event it’s the ‘change we all need and deserve’.

“I tweeted that she and Prince Harry should have their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles removed by the Queen – then they can be as politically partisan as they want without damaging the impartial integrity of the monarchy.

“‘Oh f*** off,’ spat back Bette Midler, singing legend turned foul-mouthed social media troll. She then retweeted a British TV historian, Professor Kate Williams, who said my criticism was ‘racist madness’.

“Of course, my irritation at Duchess Meghan’s political rhetoric has nothing to do with her skin colour but – as I address in my new book, Wake Up, published on October 15 – this is now the catch-all defence by ‘woke’ liberals to any criticism of anything she does."

It’s not first time the presenter has found himself under fire from the Hocus Pocus and Beaches star over Meghan Markle.

Tweeting him in January, the 74-year-old star wrote: "You, Piers, said things that were worse than critical about the Duchess, you were utterly vicious about her.

"What does she owe you? Attacking her because you didn’t get your interview!?!”

Midler has been clear with her political views on social media.

The star, who has 2m followers on Twitter, wrote yesterday of Trump: “You are a parasite, a racist, a thief, a divider and a psychopath. You sow distrust to distract the American people while you fleece your own country.

"After 3 &1/2 years, we got it. You are what you are. It is what it is."
