Kodiac Brewery Bar & Grill opens in Denver Tech Center area
The Denver Tech Center added to its reputation as a burgeoning brewery destination in early January when Kodiac Brewery Bar & Grill opened at 7685 E. Arapahoe Road in Centennial.
Serving classic bar fare like burgers, sandwiches, wings, pizza and fries, the brewery portion of the operation stands out because of head brewer Stephen Monahan’s decision to use 100% local malted barley along with fruit and other ingredients grown by Colorado farmers.
“We are really proud of that,” said Monahan, a professional brewer for eight years who moved to Colorado in May from North Carolina. Some of the beers on tap right now include IPAs, a lager, an amber ale, a stout, a hefeweizen and a Berliner weisse, but Monahan plans to add some unusual offerings to that list in the near future, including a smoked bacon porter.
Kodiac is co-owned by Nanda Maranani, who is also the Denver franchise owner for Hyderabad House, an Indian fast-casual restaurant that opened in 2016 and is located next door to Kodiac. Hyderabad has about 30 locations across the country.
Other breweries in the area include Little Dry Creek Brewery, Peak View Brewing, Spice Trade Brewing and Resolute Brewing.
So far, the feedback about both the food and the beer has been good, added Monahan, who wants to use some of the profits from some beers to raise money for Brew Like a Girl, a nonprofit he started to help raise money for brewing scholarships for women.
