Kate Middleton and Camilla are ‘power couple within Royal Family’, claims expert

Kate Middleton and Camilla have formed a tight bond, with one expert even dubbing them a "power couple" within the Royal Family.

Royal expert Daniela Elser, writing in news.com.au, said that a rare new image of the Duchess of Cambridge has "exposed a very powerful alliance forming inside the royal household."

Yesterday (Tuesday, July 5), Country Life magazine revealed the cover of their latest issue, an edition guest edited by Camilla, later revealing a behind the scenes photograph of none other than Kate Middleton snapping the cover image of the mag.

She hunches down as she shoots Camilla wearing a blue gown in the garden of her Wiltshire home, Ray Mill House.

She bought the six-bedroom property, 17 miles from the Prince of Wales’ Highgrove, after her divorce from Andrew Parker Bowles in the mid 1990s.

Elser reckons this is evidence of a growing, and powerful, bond within the Firm.

The magazine’s editor Mark Hedges told the Telegraph when discussing the shoot with Camilla: “She immediately replied, ‘Oh I’d quite like Catherine to do it.’

“I spent the next three or four minutes desperately racking my brains trying to think of a professional photographer called Catherine.

“Then I suddenly grasped what she meant – one of the most amazing things that could happen.

“I don’t think anyone else would have made her feel so relaxed.

“They didn’t bother too much with hair and make-up, they just got some flowers from the garden and got on with it.”

Elser wrote that despite the two having not much in common, "something in the last little while has very clearly shifted on this front and somehow Camilla and Kate have become a formidable – and very friendly – power couple".

"Most obviously, they seem to really get on like a house on fire," she said.

The expert pointed out that during Trooping the Colour, Camilla and Kate shared a carriage, "waving to the crowds as a double-act".

The duchess is the fourth royal guest editor of the magazine, following Charles, who has twice led the publication – to mark his 65th birthday in November 2013 and his 70th in 2018, the biggest selling issue of all time.

In 2020, Princess Anne masterminded the July 29 issue – another bestseller – to commemorate her 70th birthday.

The edition of Country Life edited by Camilla will be published on July 13.
