Questions have been raised about Israel’s knowledge of Hamas’ brutal onslaught after a public warning from the terrorist group has resurfaced.

Speaking to the pro-Hezbollah network Al Mayadeen in Lebanon 45 days before attacks on Israel began, the deputy head of Hamas’ political bureau Saleh Al-Arouri said the group was preparing for “all-out war” in the region.

He told the outlet at the time that Hamas forces were “prepared and motivated” for a full-scale assault against Israel, adding that “active parties are ready and prepared for it.”

He said: “We are preparing for an all-out war, and we are closely discussing the prospects of this war with all relevant parties.”

Al-Arouri later added: “The all-out war will be a defeat for Israel, and we see that classical wars have changed, and this is evidenced by the conflict in Ukraine.”

The Hamas terror attacks on Israel are among the worst atrocities the region has seen in decades – and are seemingly the result of a huge intelligence failing.

It has been reported that Israeli spies believed that Hamas was not preparing for a full-scale attack on Israel, and even believed that the terror group was desperate to avoid such a conflict.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports that security services brief that Hamas was trying to “avoid a full-fledged war” just one week before the conflict unfolded.

Spies also believed Hamas would not be willing to “jeopardise” the improved living conditions of residents in Gaza.
