'Eight people shot' by 'active shooter' at MillerCoors facility in Milwaukee
At least six people are feared to have been gunned down, and three of them killed, in a shooting at a MillerCoors beer plant in Milwaukee. Unconfirmed reports say three people – including the shooter – are dead following the incident at the facility in the Miller Valley area of the Wisconsin City.
Police have yet to confirm the number of people injured or killed, and the severity of survivors’ wounds. They have so far described the suspected shooting as a ‘critical incident,’ amid unconfirmed reports the shooter is ‘down.’ The incident took place at building four of the drink giant’s Wisconsin plant shortly after 2pm local time Wednesday afternoon.
Local news media reported that a shooter had been ‘subdued’, but speculated that the scene was also still active. The plant employs around 1,400 people, with over 700 working in its brewery facility and over 600 in its corporate offices. Employees told WISN that they had been trapped inside the building while law enforcement officers worked to make the scene safe.
A spokesman for Chicago-based MillerCoors also confirmed there had been an incident, but refused to comment further. Milwaukee Police and Fire Departments are both reported to be on the scene, but the city’s medical examiner’s office said they have yet to be called out. A Milwaukee Police Department spokesman tweeted: ‘MPD is investigating a critical incident in the 4000 block of W. State Street. Please stay clear of the area at this time…
‘This is an active scene, take Highland Blvd as an alternative route.’
