Donald Trump vows to ‘speak’ to US diplomat’s wife and ‘see what we can do’ after she fled UK after Harry Dunn hit-and-run death – The Sun

DONALD Trump has vowed to 'speak' to the US diplomat's wife who fled the UK after allegedly killing a Brit teen in a hit-and-run and 'see what we can do'.

The pledge has come after Boris Johnson urged the US President to return Anna Sacoolas to Britain so she can "cooperate with police".

American Mrs Sacoolas, 42, allegedly smashed into 19-year-old Harry Dunn’s motorbike while driving her Volvo on the wrong side of the road on August 27.

Mr Trump reportedly told Mr Johnson that was aware of the case was "deeply saddened by what has happened".

He later said he would speak to the suspect "shortly" and "see what we can come up with to do some healing".

Both leaders have agreed to work together to "find a way forward as soon as possible".

It comes as Mrs Sacoolas is set to be charged over the crash death of Harry Dunn — with officials considering extradition proceedings within 48 hours.

The news came as Harry’s mum vowed to go to the States if necessary to bring the suspected killer to justice.

The mum of three was spoken to the day after the death crash outside US intelligence hub RAF Croughton, Northants, where her husband Jonathan works as a spy.

But cops had an application to waive her diplomatic immunity rejected and Mrs Sacoolas then fled the country, back to the US. Northamptonshire Police have now passed a file to the CPS to decide on whether to prosecute her for causing death by dangerous driving.

Police and Crime Commissioner Steve Mold said: “I would expect something back within 48 hours.

“This may or may not kick-start extradition proceedings — but this is quite an unprecedented situation.”

'IT WAS A LET DOWN'

Harry's devastated parents had talks with the Dominic Raab this afternoon to discuss the tragic case of their son.

The couple, from Northampton, were spotted looking solemn as they left at the foreign office this afternoon.

The family's lawyer said Charlotte Charles and Tim Dunn are "angry and frustrated" after "cold" talks with the foreign secretary.

Radd Seiger, spoke to the media this evening, saying they were unimpressed with the Foreign Secretary and they were left with little hope.

He told Sky News: "He said to us that Boris was intending to speak to President Trump, that could be possibly happening this evening."

And he added: "The parents are angry, frustrated, and it’s a very difficult time.

"To say it was a let down would be a gross understatement. They are simply too angry to talk at the moment."

The parents have a "firey determination" to carry on fighting for justice for their son, he stressed, which could include a visit to the US.

"We are perplexed, confused, angry.

"We are diametrically opposed to that position, we think that waivers are almost always granted.

"Tim is angry with the Foreign Secretary. He didn't feel the meeting was handled well.

"He thought it was cold… there wasn't much warmth. I don't blame him. It was a strange meeting."

Harry’s mum on Tuesday vowed to confront Donald Trump in Washington over the matter.

Speaking on ITV’s This Morning, she added: “We won’t stop. We will go over to Washington if we have to. We’ve taken advice from a lawyer on that.

“We will plead with President Trump to look at the laws, look at diplomatic immunity, and hopefully realise it is there to protect diplomats and their families when they are in danger . . . not when they commit such a serious crime as this.”

Petrol station worker Harry’s dad Tim, 50, told how he held his dying son in the road in the aftermath of the crash after being called by an emergency services pal.

He added: “I managed to see Harry, managed to speak to him and comfort him while the paramedics did their work.”

A crowdfunding page to support the family had already passed its £10,000 target on Tuesday night.
