Denver weather: Thunderstorms, rain, bring reprieve from warmer temps

Denverites can expect the weekend’s rain to continue on Monday with scattered thunderstorms most likely in the late afternoon and early evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday’s forecast in Denver calls for a high of 80 degrees and a low of 58, with mostly cloudy skies during the day and wind gusts as high as 16 mph in the afternoon.

Forecasters predict scattered to widespread rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening for northeast and north central Colorado, according to the weather service’s hazardous weather outlook, but they don’t expect flash flooding in most areas and a limited risk in burn areas.

Severe storms are also unlikely on Monday and cooler temperatures than Sunday are expected. The rest of the week will likely bring fewer thunderstorms over higher terrain, and more dry and warm temperatures, particularly after Tuesday, according to the forecast for Denver and weather service’s hazardous weather outlook.
