Deadly fire rips through tower forcing victims to jump out of building
At least one person is dead after flames ripped through the upper floors of a hotel tower at one of the world's biggest shopping centres, according to reports.
Victims are said to have jumped from the tower at CentralWorld in Bangkok, Thailand, in a desperate bid to escape the inferno.
Footage shows flames shooting several feet out of the tower – where the fire broke out on the eighth floor – and a large cloud of black smoke billowing into the sky.
Thousands of people were evacuated from the complex in Bangkok’s central shopping district as fire crews tries to tackle the blaze.
Reports said Wednesday afternoon's fire broke out at the Centara Grand Hotel, located next to the CentralWorld shopping centre.
Plumes of black smoke were visible for miles in the Thai capital.
One report said one person was dead and at least two others were injured.
Centara Grand Hotel is the flagship hotel of CentralWorld, the 11th largest shopping complex in the world.
The complex also includes an office tower.
In 2010, it was set on fire when an occupation anti-government protesters was brought to an end by authorities.
