Dad's fury as school puts girl in isolation 'because her trousers too tight'
A DAD says he was left fuming after his daughter was put into isolation “because her trousers were too tight.”
The angry father, who wished not to be named, claimed his teenage daughter and other female students were punished at Scott Medical and Healthcare College in Plymouth, Devon, for showing too much ankle.
The teen, who is the final year of her GCSE’s, was reportedly wearing the schools’ trousers, accompanied by loafer shoes and her trainer socks when she was scrutinised for showing less than "three-quarters of an inch" of skin.
Her “livid” Dad has now blasted the college's policy thatstates that trousers must be touching the shoe and that the pupils' ankles must not be showing
He told Plymouth Live: “The school before the Christmas break sent out an email stating the policy and after Christmas there will be a drive that all trousers are in line with the policy and if you can get trousers in the sale, then get them in the sale.
“I have always brought my children's (uniform) in September which will last them that school year, unless it rips or tears, then I will buy a new set for the following year – I’m not made of money.
“We bought my daughter two pairs of trousers in September and they touched her shoes, as it stated. I would describe them as fitted trousers. She has worn them from September until now.”

The student's dad confirmed that his daughter returned to school on January 7 and was offered some alternative legwear by members of staff.
But her father complained that they were “too tight” and even suggested that they were bordering on “pornographic.”
The dad continued: “I told my daughter that she needs to try them on because the college is giving us an option and an hour or so later she called back again to say her trousers were too tight, rather than the initial issue being the length.
“I got my daughter to send me a photo of them and if it showed anymore off if it would be pornographic – you wouldn’t wear that to the gym, which got me boiling.
“I told my daughter to take them off and put her own trousers back on and then she was told if she doesn’t wear the trousers she will be back in isolation depriving her of her education again."
A spokesperson for Scott Medical and Healthcare College claimed that support was available to parents who were unsure about uniform policies.
Will Smith, who is the CEO of Greenshaw Learning Trust, said: “Our expectation is that all students present themselves in-line with school policies and Scott College offers support to parents and students to ensure the correct uniform is worn.
“If any students or parents have questions or concerns regarding our policies they should contact the school."
The new updated policy states that trousers should be of a smart, office-like appearance with red list legwear including skin-tight trousers, jeans and leggings.
Now the school has offered the dad, along with other parents, a £20 voucher to purchase new trousers that are better suited for the policy.
But despite receiving his backing, the Dad says there was nothing that exists that the school was asking for and that he has ended up buying primary school trousers for his daughter from a supermarket.
He added: “I spoke to someone from Greenshaw Trust, and told him that the length of the trousers can’t be implemented because they can grow in a matter of months. You can’t just exclude a child for that.
“I said to him when you say skin-tight trousers to me are what skinheads used to wear back in the eighties, that’s skin tights and my daughter’s trousers are fitted. He said it wasn’t what they were after.”
