Dad-of-six fighting for his life after being stabbed 21 times in his own home

A father-of-six is fighting for his life after being stabbed 21 times in a home attack that has left him in a coma.

The 43-year-old victim suffered injures to his head, ear, chest and other parts of his body after an attacker stabbed him while he was in his own him in Acocks Green, Birmingham.

It has been reported that the assailants fled the Arden Road property following the attack on Wednesday and are still at large.

The victim is receiving treatment at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital and has been in a coma since the attack.

BirminghamLive reports that he underwent surgery to stitch up five stab wounds to his arm on Friday.

A source told the publication on Friday: "21 stab wounds – nine to his head and ear, three to his chest and others over his body. He is in a coma at the Queen Elizabeth hospital.

"Collapsed lungs, punctured lung, stabbed in his main artery, and he had surgery to stitch up five stab wounds on his arm today.”

West Midlands Police have launched an investigation into the attack and a manhunt is underway.

A statement from West Midlands Police said: "We are investigating a stabbing at a property Arden Road in Birmingham just before 1pm on Wednesday 30 September.

"A 43-year-old man was taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds and remains there in a serious but stable condition.

"A number of suspects have been identified and arrest attempts are underway.
