Callous thief caught on CCTV ransacking home of deaf OAP as he slept upstairs
DISTURBING CCTV footage shows a callous thief ransacking a deaf pensioner's home as he sleeps upstairs.
The hooded thug, armed with a flashlight and wearing a head torch, is seen brazenly rifling through the 79-year-old resident's belongings at around 12.30am on Monday morning.
Cops have now launched an appeal to find the thief after the OAP was targeted for the fourth time in just five months at his home in Selby, North Yorks.
In the clip the thief can be seen rummaging through the man's coat pockets and searching through paperwork laid out on his kitchen table.
He then spotted two of the security cameras and took them with him – but investigators were able to access the footage after it was digitally saved.
'APPALLING'
It's not known whether the man shown was the same person who carried out the other robberies at the same address.
PC Tony Morton of North Yorkshire Police said: "It is absolutely appalling that this vulnerable elderly man has been targeted in his home four times since April this year.
"There were two burglaries as recently as August, where on both occasions the suspect has used the ATM at Sainsbury's in Selby to take out cash from the victim's account.
"The victim is a 79 year old man who lives on his own. He is partially deaf and throughout this latest burglary he was asleep upstairs.
"We remain determined to do everything we can to bring those responsible for these offences to justice and we are asking for the public's help to identify this burglar to hopefully prevent a further occurrence."
Anyone with information about the incident should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and ask for Anthony Morton, or email [email protected].
