Remember: Social Security was not envisioned as your sole source of money for retirement, and the totals are always changing.

Donald and Melania Trump Quarantine After Top Aide Tests Positive for Coronavirus

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump have begun the “quarantine process” following the news that one of his top advisors, Hope Hicks, has tested positive for coronavirus. As Washington Post reports, Hicks had traveled with the Trump several times over the course of the past week on Air Force One.

Hicks, who currently serves as a counselor to the president, had previously been his 2016 campaign spokeswoman and the White House communications director before a brief stint at Fox News.

Trump told Fox News on Thursday that he and Melania had been tested and are awaiting results. “She tested positive and I just went out with a test… So whether we quarantine or whether we have it, I don’t know,” Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity. “So I just went for a test and we’ll see what happens.”

He later took to Twitter to add that “The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process.”

Hicks is the highest-ranking aide known to have tested positive. Battling the virus, which has killed more than 200,000 Americans, has been a contentious issue for Trump, who has downplayed its seriousness and not advocated for the use of masks or social distancing; both are practices that health experts have said will protect against the virus.

Trump Says He Condemns Proud Boys and White Supremacists

President Donald Trump said Thursday in an interview that he condemned the Proud Boys, a militant group that supports him, after declining to directly condemn white supremacists during Tuesday’s presidential debate.

“I condemn the KKK, I condemn all white supremacists, I condemn the Proud Boys,” Trump said in an interview on Fox News, after insisting that he had long condemned such groups.

“If I say it 100 times it won’t be enough because it’s fake news,” he said.

Trump came under criticism following the debate after he said only “sure” and “I will” after moderator Chris Wallace of Fox News invited him to condemn white supremacists. After his re-election opponent Joe Biden suggested he condemn the Proud Boys, Trump responded, “Proud Boys, stand back and stand by” — a phrase that members of the group celebrated on social media.

Trump said the next day that he meant the group should “stand down” and allow police to regulate leftist protesters.

Trump Tests Positive for Covid-19

President Trump tweeted late Thursday night that he and the first lady have tested positive for Covid-19.

“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19,” the president wrote. “We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!”

The announcement comes hours after it was reported that White House counselor Hope Hicks contracted the virus.

After the news of Hicks’ positive test broke, Trump tweeted that he and Melania were awaiting their own test results and were preparing to quarantine. “Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19. Terrible!” Trump wrote Thursday evening. “The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!”

The results came in two hours later, confirming that Trump and Melania are now among the over 7.3 million Americans to test positive for the coronavirus.

This is a developing story.
