LONDON, May 24 (Reuters) – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s aide Dominic Cummings, who is under pressure over a long journey made while coronavirus restrictions were in place, has been reported to police over an alleged breach of the lockdown, the Daily Mirror said.
A spokesman at Johnson’s Downing Street did not offer an immediate comment when contacted by Reuters. Durham police could not immediately be reached for comment. (Reporting by Costas Pitas, Editing by Timothy Heritage)

Businesses in Iran, including those deemed “high risk,” should resume work Tuesday, the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency reported, citing the head of the Tehran Chamber of Trade Unions.
The advice is based on guidance from the government’s coronavirus task force, according to Qassem Nodeh Farahani, head of the trade body, IRNA said.
The so-called high-risk businesses include restaurants, cafes, gyms, saunas and wedding halls, Nodeh Farahani said, adding that they have to keep abiding by social-distancing rules.
Religious shrines and mosques will reopen Monday, after the Muslim holiday of Eid, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Saturday.
Earlier on Sunday, Iran’s health ministry said the number of confirmed coronavirus cases had reached 135,701 and about 7,417 people had died. Official figures show that new cases have been increasing at an average rate of 5.7% each day since May 2.

Pets rescued after Winnipeg fire
Multiple pets were rescued after a fire early Sunday morning.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a fire in a two-storey, multi-family home in the 600 block of Agnes Street at 3:27 a.m.
When crews arrived on scene, they saw smoke and flames coming from the building and extinguished the fire about 20 minutes later.

24-year-old man shot in attempted murder in Rivière-des-Prairies: Montreal police
Montreal police are investigating after a 24-year-old man was shot in Montreal’s Rivière-des-Prairies neighborhood on Saturday evening.
Police say they were dispatched to the scene at 9 p.m. and the victim was brought to hospital without fear for his life.
U.K. Draws Up Plan to Save Strategically Important Companies: FT
Britain’s finance minister, Rishi Sunak, has authorized a plan to save strategically important companies, the Financial Times reported, citing details shared with the newspaper by the Treasury.
Under the plan, the government would rescue companies in exceptional circumstances to save those whose failure would “disproportionately harm the economy,” the Financial Times reported.
Sunak has increased the Treasury’s capacity to handle bailouts of “viable companies which have exhausted all options,” the report said. Any support would be on a “last resort basis,” the newspaper reported.
Sunak’s allies told the newspaper that the Treasury would not initially seek equity stakes in struggling companies, preferring to extend loans.

The budget will include 60 trillion yen for expanding low-interest rate loan schemes for firms hit by the pandemic, and 27 trillion yen for other financial aid programmes, the paper said, without citing sources.
The government is expected to approve the budget at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
