Trump Says Democrats Don’t Want Stimulus Deal Due to Election
President Donald Trump said congressional Democrats don’t want to make a deal on another round of economic stimulus because they think it would help him win re-election.
“They don’t want to make a deal,” Trump said at a news conference on Monday, after he was asked why he won’t meet with Democratic leaders to negotiate. “I don’t have to meet with them in order to be turned down.”
The Democratic-led House passed an additional $3 trillion coronavirus relief bill in May that the Republican-led Senate has refused to consider. Negotiations on compromise legislation with the White House have stalled.
“They think if the country does as badly as possible, even though a lot of people are being hurt, that’s good for the Democrats,” Trump said.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat, has said the sides are too far apart on spending levels to reach an agreement.
Bruce Williamson Dies: Temptations Lead Singer In 2000s Was At 49
Bruce Williamson, who sang lead for legendary Motown group the Temptations in more recent years, has died. He was 49. His son posted the news on social media but didn’t provide details.
Born on September 20, 1950, in Los Angeles, Williamson joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group in the mid-2000s and left in 2015. By then the Temptations had only one original member, Otis Williams, and were long past their hitmaking days.
But what days those were. The Temptations were among Motown’s — and America’s — most popular groups of the 1960s and early ’70s. After breaking out with “The Way You Do the Things You Do” in 1964, the Temps hit No. 1 with the stone classic “My Girl” the next year and would rack up 14 Top 10 singles and three more chart toppers with “I Can’t Get Next to You” in 1969; “Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)” in 1971 and the Grammy Hall of Fame smash “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” in 1972.
The Temptations’ 1968 hit “Cloud Nine” helped usher in the psychedelic soul genre and earned Motown Records its first Grammy Award. The band would score two more and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013. It was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.
VW CEO Says No Deal Cooking After Meeting Elon Musk in Germany
Volkswagen AG CEO Herbert Diess took to LinkedIn on Monday to clarify that there was no deal in the works after he met Tesla CEO Elon Musk last week in Germany.
“We just drove the ID.3 and had a chat – there is no deal/cooperation in the making,” he wrote on the social network, posting a selfie with a smiling Musk.
The two auto executives met for about two hours on Thursday evening at a small airport in Braunschweig where Musk test-drove VW’s ID.3 electric-car. Diess has praised Musk’s achievements several times in the past.
“Thanks for the visit, Elon!” Diess wrote in a separate comment on LinkedIn where he teased Musk for trying to drive the ID.3 like a sports car on the runway. “For this you should try our Porsche Taycan. Looking forward to our next meeting!”

FSIS Warns About Imported Cooked Duck Blood Curds From China
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has warned about an undetermined amount of imported cooked duck blood curds from China.
A recall was not requested because FSIS has been unable to contact the importer. The total amount of ineligible product is undetermined because the investigation is ongoing.

The cooked duck blood curds product does not identify an eligible establishment number on its packaging and was not presented to FSIS for import re-inspection. FSIS has not received an official inspection certificate issued by the People’s Republic of China to certify this product as eligible. Therefore, this product is ineligible to import into the U.S., making it unfit for human consumption.
Retailers who have purchased the product are urged not to sell it. Consumers who purchased the product should not consume it and properly discard it.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
Facebook Limits Forwarding Messages Only To 5 People Or Group
Facebook Inc. (FB) has announced a new update to its messenger service, which now limits users to forward messages only to five people or groups at a time. The social media giant expects the latest update will help curb the spread of fake news through the messaging platform.
“Limiting forwarding is an effective way to slow the spread of viral misinformation and harmful content that has the potential to cause real world harm,” said Jay Sullivan, Director of Product Management, Messenger Privacy and Safety.
“We believe controlling the spread of misinformation is critical as the global COVID-19 pandemic continues and we head toward major elections in the US, New Zealand and other countries. We’ve taken steps to provide people with greater transparency and accurate information,” he added.
Last year, Facebook had brought a similar forwarding limit to its WhatsApp chat app. However, in April, WhatsApp narrowed down the limit of frequently forwarded messages to one chat at a time.
Facebook has been severely criticized many times for not controlling spread of fake or misleading information on its platform. Imposing a limit on number of people you can forward a message does not eradicate fake news circulations, but it slows down the process.
