Zara Tindall vs Meghan Markle: How Harry wants life to be more like his cousins’
Zara Tindall is regularly at the centre of royal commentary, and she is often said to be a key member of the royal family. Known as one of the Queen’s favourite grandchildren, Zara had a glittering professional career as an equestrian, and is thought to have a fantastic sense of humour. In photos, Zara is often pictured beaming with her little family and her husband, Mike Tindall. Could Prince Harry be hoping for a similar set-up for his own family?
Both Zara and Mike appear to have a hands-on approach to parenting, frequently pictured playing with their two little daughters Mia and Lena.
And the pair are also said to have a close relationship with other members of the royal family.
Mike Tindall hit the headlines earlier this year for giving the Queen a fit of the giggles, after revealing a miniature top hat underneath his own dress hat at Royal Ascot.
Royal expert Russell Myers spoke on podcast “Pod Save the Queen”, where he claimed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would like their lives to reflect the lives of the low-key Tindalls.
Myers said: “Certainly, Harry would like to be more like Zara and Mike, and have that freedom.
“But unfortunately he is related to the heir, he is the son of the future King.
“The problem is, you can’t have one foot in and one foot out, and this is the issue that’s being debated at the moment.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, have been the subject of much media scrutiny over the last few months.
The birth of baby Archie in May this year, followed by the intense criticism the pair faced for using private jets to travel, cast a huge spotlight on the couple.
In Australian magazine New Idea’s podcast, “Royals”, this July, Angela Mollard said Zara and Mike’s position away from the spotlight has greatly benefited the couple.
Ms Mollard said: “They really are just Mr and Mrs Ordinary, they don’t have titles.”
“I love the way they are free of that constant spotlight, and they use their royalty for good.
“She’s spoken a lot in the past about the miscarriages she had between her two daughters and how that’s affected them.
“I really like them.”
