Zara Tindall takes lead from Princess Kate as she stuns in chic power suit

Zara Tindall appeared to be taking fashion inspiration from Princess Kate as she stepped out in a chic grey power suit at the Cheltenham Racecourse today. Princess Anne’s daughter, who does not have a royal title, was pictured in the timeless look as she was seen before the presenting of awards after the Cheltenham Racecourse Food Bank Collection Mares’ Handicap Chase during day one of the The Christmas Meeting at Cheltenham Racecourse.

The matching jacket and trouser look is one that Kate has become very fond of over the course of the last few months, as she has sported them in a variety of colours.

In November the Princess of Wales wore a wide-legged maroon design by Roland Mouret to give a landmark speech at the Shaping Us National Symposium in London.

Other memorable looks include her emerald suit worn to visit a textile mill in Leeds in September, as well as her pink Alexander McQueen look worn to the Foundling Museum back in May.

Zara Tindall’s taste in fashion has been scrutinised over the years, as one style expert pointed out how her look had matured since she was in her twenties.

Susie Nelson from Modes and More told Express.co.uk: “Zara Tindall is in an unusual position, she isn’t a working royal and doesn’t have a title, but the Royal Family are her family – at least on one side.

“Regarding hats, the royal protocol states that women must wear hats to all official occasions, and the headpiece must have a solid base of four or more inches.”

She continued: “There doesn’t seem to be a royal limit on how large a hat can be. Some of Zara’s hats may have been seen as a little large and loud, and she has enjoyed having a snappy and youthful dress sense.

“She has been quoted as stating that she has the same common-sense attitude to clothes as her mother and she needs to be presentable, clean and tidy.

“Some of Zara’s skirts would break royal protocol by being too far above her knee. In addition, she has also worn a black mini-skirt to a wedding in 1998.”
