Zara Tindall, 38, is Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest granddaughter but was raised outside the royal bubble. While she is a much-loved member of the Royal Family she does not have an official title and is unhindered by the responsibilities of full-time working royals. Zara and her husband Mike are currently in Australia where they are enjoying a family break.

Zara’s mother Princess Anne rejected the Queen’s offer of official titles for her children in a bid to give them as normal an upbringing as possible.

As an adult, Zara has praised her mother’s decision and said she felt lucky to be raised the way she was.

Zara is a professional equestrian and won silver for Britain at the London 2020 Olympics.

She married former England rugby player Mike Tindall in 2011 and the couple have two daughters together – Mia, five, and Lena, one.

Unlike other more senior royals, Zara does not receive funding from the Crown but has earned a small fortune in sponsorship deals with several high profile brands.

Zara is an ambassador for iCandy prams and even has her own line of jewellery.

Pictures of Zara and Mike on holiday show the couple looking happy and relaxed.

There is speculation as to whether Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could follow Zara’s lead following their step down as senior royals.

While Harry is a far more senior royal than Zara, the type of work he may pursue in future could in some ways mirror the deals made by Zara and Mike.

Mike and Zara are often praised for their down to earth attitude and are said to be favourites of the Queen’s.

Much remains to be confirmed about Meghan and Harry’s future but the Queen confirmed she supports the couple’s decision following talks at Sandringham yesterday.

There is hope Meghan and Harry will find their feet and exist more happily outside the Royal Family’s core.

Meghan Markle and Harry have outlined their bid to becoming financially independent but the type of commercial opportunities they will pursue remains to be seen.

As former senior royals, the type of work the couple take on will be expected to fall within a royal remit that does not disgrace the family’s name.

The Queen expressed support for Meghan and Harry following a royal summit at Sandringham on Monday.

The statement read: “My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family.

“Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.

“Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives.”

The statement continued: “It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK.

“These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.”

While the couple’s future funding arrangements have not been confirmed they are expected to continue receiving money from Prince Harry’s father Prince Charles.

As Meghan and Harry ill no longer be considered full time working royals, the money they currently receive from the Sovereign Grant is expected to stop.
