‘You can’t take the taxpayers’ money just to suit you’ Mike Parry blasts Meghan and Harry
“They’ve got everything. And when I read that Harry is saying ‘I might like to spend the rest of my life in Africa’, go spend the rest of your life in Africa, I agree with Kevin.
“You can’t take the taxpayers’ money in this country just to suit what you think would be your finest play of living somewhere abroad.”
TV presenter Lizzie Cundy said: “There are often married couples struggling and I think when you hear them whinging and whining, that’s what it’s becoming.
“He’s talked about his brother, good and bad days, it’s very unusual, it’s very sad to hear, but he’s made his own headlines.”
Mike Parry disagreed: “It’s not that unusual, of course, brothers have problems all the time”, before host Anne Diamond added: “It’s unusual to hear anyone royal coming out with this.”
Mr Parry commented: “But they sound more real to me when they admit that they have tensions. We’ve all got siblings and falls out with their siblings all the time.”
The presenter asked: “Do we want to hear our royal family talking like this?”
The Mirror’s Kevin Maguire remarked: “I think they’re on a slippery slope, I think it’s good some of the campaigns they do on mental health and Harry, in particular, seems very troubled. She’s the more dominant figure in the marriage.
“I like what they were doing in Africa and she uses her position as a woman of colour to show people in Africa look, you can be like me.
“I like all that, but once you begin to strip away the mystique around the royals, then I think why do you bother with a hereditary monarchy and a royal family?”
The debate follows the broadcast of an ITV documentary filmed during Meghan and Harry’s recent South Africa tour.
The Duchess of Sussex has admitted that, alongside her husband Prince Harry, she is struggling with the media scrutiny – to the point that they are not living but just “existing”.

Meghan opened up during an emotional interview with broadcaster Tom Bradby, for a new documentary “Harry & Meghan: An African Journey”, which aired on ITV last night.
The Duchess, who has a five-month-old son, Archie, told Mr Bradby that it was essential for her to “thrive” and “feel happy”, warning that simply enduring unwanted scrutiny is “not the point of life”.
She said: “It’s hard. I don’t think anybody can understand that. In all fairness, I had no idea, which probably sounds difficult to understand, but when I first met Harry, my friends were so excited, my US friends were happy because I was happy.
“But my British friends, they were sure he was lovely, but they said I shouldn’t do it because ‘the British tabloids will destroy your life’. Because I’m American I very naively didn’t get it. It’s complicated.”
