Woman seriously hurt in bully XL dog attack while she walked her child
A dog who attacked a mum while she was pushing a pram has been left seriously injured following the attack.
It happened on Doncaster Road, in Askern, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, at 11am yesterday.
The 28-year-old mum, who hasn’t been named, suffered ‘serious injuries’ to her arms and is in a stable but serious condition.
Witnesses said they believe the dog to be an bully XL dog, which ‘kept going at her’ during the attack.
Armed police swarmed the scene and seized the dog while the mum was taken to hospital.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: ‘It is believed that the victim, a 28-year-old woman was walking her dog down the street, while pushing her child in a pram when she was approached by a loose dog.
‘The dog, believed to be an XL Bully breed, is alleged to have caused serious injury to the woman’s arms.
‘She has been taken to hospital by ambulance, where she remains in a stable but serious condition.
‘Firearms and dog officers attended the scene and seized the dog.’
An eyewitness who wished to remain anonymous said: ‘It was absolutely awful. The dog was all over her and she was screaming. It just kept going at her.’
The incident enters a long line of XL bully dog attacks including that of a seven-year-old girl who was mauled by one in Liverpool last month.
Another one chased a police officer during a raid at a house in South Yorkshire last month as well.
And in May a woman was mauled by her own XL bully dog in Caterham, in Surrey.
