Woman guilty over smashing wine glass in Miss England finalist’s face
A woman who smashed a wine glass into a Miss England finalist’s face has been found guilty of unlawful wounding.
Olivia Cooke was left with glass in her forehead after a row at a bar in West Malling in Kent.
The 21-year-old was taken to hospital and needed five stitches on her face – one of which was 5cm long.
China Gold, 27, had denied the charges against her but was found guilty at Maidstone Crown Court after a trial.

Ms Cooke knew Gold through a mutual friend and both had been at the pub in a group on 19 October 2018.
Ms Cooke told the court that Gold abused her verbally and she then “tried to stick up” for herself against Gold.
The jury heard the arguments continued as Gold followed her outside and the altercation became physical.
In the ensuing struggle, Ms Cooke told the court that Gold grabbed her throat twice and had struck her twice with a wine glass, “one to break the glass and the second one to cause injury”.
Gold accepted causing the injuries to Ms Cooke’s face but had sought to convince the jury that she was acting in self-defence.
Gold, from Ditton in Kent, cried in the dock as Judge Philip Statman told her the offence “clearly” passes the custody threshold.
She was released on bail but the judge also told her to “put your personal affairs in order” before being sentenced on 27 April.
Judge Statman said: “This is a very serious matter.
“It has got a starting point of three years [in prison].”
