A woman has died after the car she was travelling in crashed while being followed by a police car.

The 28-year-old, who has not been named, was in a blue Ford Fiesta when it hit another car in Birmingham last night.

West Midlands Police said the Fiesta had failed to stop for officers a short time before the crash.

The wreckage of the two cars was found by police at 9.42pm and the woman was taken to hospital where she later died.

Police say a 34-year-old man is helping them with inquiries.

Three people who had been in the other car – a Volkswagen Golf – are said to have suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Investigators from the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) are at the scene on Crocketts Road in the city.
