The grim discovery came after paramedics and officers from Police Scotland descended on Young Terrace in the Springburn area of Glasgow at around 9.50am. Neighbours in the “quiet” residential area later revealed that theywere not allowed to leave their homes after police arrived on the scene.

Police later revealed that a 52-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shocked residents told how they saw a woman in the street “covered in blood” before the emergency services arrived.

One told the Daily Record: “It is such a shame.

“I heard a bit of a commotion in the street around 3am this morning, but when I looked outside I couldn’t see anything.

“I did hear something on the street around 3am this morning but when I looked I couldn’t see anything.”

Another woman said she had to ask police officers for permission to leave her home to attend a doctor’s appointment.

She explained: “We were told to stay inside and we weren’t allowed to leave the house or take the cars out the street.

A police spokesperson said: “Around 9.50 am on Tuesday, 8 February 2022, police received a report of a man injured within a flat in Young Terrace, Springburn, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and the 52-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of the death which police is treating as unexplained at this time.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
