Woman arrived for flight a year early after booking mishap
A woman found herself stuck in Croatia after mistakenly booking a flight for the wrong year.
Model Alexia Portman took to TikTok last week looking sheepish when she realised her 6am flight to Milan wasn’t taking off until August 4, 2022.
The caption read: ‘As if I’ve got to the airport at 6am and my flight turns out to be booked for next year.’
Posting a follow up video Alexia explained to her 76,000 followers what happened.
She said: ‘I realised my flight was booked for a year in advance when I got to the airport and I went to the departures board and my flight wasn’t there at all.’
She went to check her boarding pass but realised she hadn’t actually checked in, she’d just bought baggage and put her passport details in.
Checking the email confirmation of her ticket, which had been booked in May, she quickly realised her mistake.
‘The way that it happened was because my flight on this route had been cancelled already,’ Alexia explained.
‘And they let me move it to a different day before or after, but in 2021. Midway through that I’m guessing they just cancelled all available routes that year because the next date was 4th of August. I was like “great” but it was in 2022.’
She said she didn’t receive any emails about the flight but thought that was because she’d booked it on her dad’s account.
In the end she managed to make it to Italy as planned but said: ‘It turned out OK in the end. But that was so f***ing stressful, I don’t wish that on my worst enemy. Never again.’
Some questioned whether it was possible to book a year in advance but easyJet’s website is currently offering seats on planes up to October 2022, with November 2022 ‘coming soon.’
Fellow TikTok users were sympathetic but many saw the funny side.
One person commented: ‘I understand you need to be at the airport two hours early but a year seems a bit too early.’
Another person said: ‘Dad’s arrival time when they make the family leave early.’
