Windsor live stream: How to watch live coverage as fans celebrate birth of royal baby?
An air of mystery has been maintained by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex surrounding the details of their first child. In previous years, royal baby births have been covered live by the BBC from outside the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London. But the young couple said before the birth that they wanted to keep the details of the birth under wraps to maintain some privacy in their early days of parenthood.
Unlike with Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Camridge, avid royal fans across the world were not told that Meghan was in labour until after the baby boy was born.
In a statement sent out during the early hours of Monday, May 6 morning it was announced that the Duchess of Sussex had gone into later and that the Duke was by her side.
Only a short time later it was announced that a baby boy had been born at 5.26am weighing in at 7lbs 3oz.
Royal fans flocked to Windsor Castle yesterday to celebrate the birth of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first baby.
People were photographed pouring champagne into their glasses to toast the new arrival and shops have hung up banners announcing the arrival of the baby.
Prince Harry was by his wife’s side when their royal baby was delivered. The Queen, along with Meghan Markle’s mother Doria Ragland, Prince Charles and Camilla have been told of the news.
If you want to keep up to date with the latest baby news then you should keep an eye on Meghan and Harry’s Sussex Royal Instagram account.
The pair launched their Instagram at the start of April and while it has predominantly been used to showcase the couple’s humanitarian work, many believe they may post the first pictures of the royal baby on there.
Twitter is another place to look for the latest royal baby news.
The Royal Family Twitter account could be the one to announce the new baby’s name or reveal his first pictures.
Princess Diana and Kate Middleton both posed on the steps of the Lindo Wing for official pictures with their newborns, soon after giving birth.
But it’s understood Meghan wishes to avoid the traditional media moment.
Instead, there is a frenzied anticipation across the globe eagerly awaiting baby’s name first pictures which are expected tomorrow.
Currently, according to bookmakers, the favourite names are Alexander at 3/1, Spencer at 5/1, Arthur and James at 6/1, and Albert at 8/1.
You can watch updates on the royal baby on BBC One or on the BBC news website as it happens.
