Prince William praised for defending palace staff by Campbell

Reporter Valentine Low claimed in a new tell-all book, Courtiers: the Hidden Power Behind the Crown, that Prince William offered a young female royal aide a shoulder to cry on following harsh treatment she had allegedly received from the Duchess of Sussex. His actions, which included asking her ‘I hope you’re ok?’, have led to praise from British-Jamaican author and socialite Lady Colin Campbell.

Speaking on GB News, Lady Campbell said: “Good for Prince William.

“My understanding is he has been the one who was backing up the disadvantaged, bullied staff from the word go”.

The socialite praised Prince William as he “stood up” for Palace staff who were allegedly “bullied” by both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

One of the alleged incidents was reported to have happened in the run-up to the couple’s 2018 marriage, with Meghan Markle purportedly erupting at a female member of staff in front of co-workers.

The praise follows allegations about the former Suits actress’s conduct made by journalist Valentine Low in his new book.

Royal author Valentine Law claimed in the upcoming publication that the Duchess of Sussex repeatedly berated royal workers.

According to Mr Low, Meghan reportedly told the staffer: “Don’t worry, if there was literally anyone else I could ask to do this, I would be asking them instead of you”.

The aide was reportedly left “mortified” by this exchange with Meghan.

The Prince of Wales is said to have stepped in after being informed of the heated exchange.

Prince William seemingly tracked down the staffer to check on her welfare and offer a shoulder to cry on.

Mr Low claimed the royal attempted to console the distraught aide and told her she was doing “a really good job”.

Following the emergence of the bullying allegations, Buckingham Palace launched an inquiry into the claims and later changed HR policies to better support staff.

The Palace confirmed the changes in June but said the details of the new policies would not be made public as all staff and members of the Royal Family “will be aware of what the policies and procedures are.”

The Duchess of Sussex dismissed the allegations as an “attack on her character” and a spokesman for the Sussexes said Meghan was “saddened” by the claims.

The spokesman added: “The Duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma.

“She is determined to continue her work building compassion around the world and will keep striving to set an example for doing what is right and doing what is good.”
