William appeared ‘nervous’ at event just days after Omid Scobie’s bombshell book

Prince William appeared “nervous” during a recent public appearance, one body language expert claimed.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were both guests at the 2023 Royal Variety Performance, which aired on ITV on Sunday evening. The actual event took place last month, just days after author Omid Scobie released his latest book Endgame.

Shortly after the release, the Royal Family were dragged back into a race row after Dutch copies of the book included the names of the two royals who allegedly raised “concerns” about the skin colour of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s then-unborn son. Express.co.uk has chosen to not name the two royals that were included in the Dutch version of Endgame.

Speaking to Betfair Casino about William’s appearance, body language expert Darren Stanton said: “Kate and William’s laughter is completely genuine. William touched his tie briefly, and while this can be a gesture of reassurance, William may have done this as he was feeling nervous with the attention being on him.”

He added: “But Kate’s presence by his side put him at ease, as the nerves didn’t take over. Apart from that, they both really enjoyed themselves. There were no signs of them faking any of their emotions. They wanted to be there and they could fully let go. It was a very natural appearance from the both of them.”

At the 2023 Royal Variety Performance, Princess Kate dazzled in an elegant royal blue dress, while Prince William looked dapper in a classic black suit with bow-tie.

Meghan first alleged that comments had been made about the then-unborn Prince Archie, who is now four, in 2021.

The 42-year-old, who is now also mother to two-year-old Princess Lilibet, told Oprah Winfrey that conversations had taken place about how “dark” their son’s skin colour may be. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have never publicly revealed which royal, or royals, Meghan had been referring to.

Endgame has now been rereleased in the Netherlands after it was previously pulled from shelves.
