Kate and William are travelling Stateside to attend the Earthshot Prize Award Ceremony on December 2. The visit will be the couple’s first in eight years and also their first overseas trip as the Prince and Princess of Wales. Speaking on Good Morning Britain, royal commentator R. Couri Hay praised the couple, claiming that they are set to “restore dignity” and “friendliness” of the Royal Family.
Mr Hay told Good Morning Britain: “Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey absolutely tarnished the royals.
“But William and Kate, I think, are going to restore the dignity [and] the friendliness of the royals.
“I can’t help but think it’s going to be a tremendous visit.
“People are going to love them.”
After weeks of speculation, Good Morning Britain’s North America correspondent Noel Phillips shut down rumours that the couple will meet up with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
He said: “It is understood [that] Prince William will not be meeting his estranged brother or sister-in-law.
“Instead [William] will be focusing on the Earthshot Prize, a project inspired by a speech given by this former President, John F. Kennedy in 1962.”
He added that there is a “3,500 mile gap” between where the William and Kate will be and the Sussexes in California.
Prince William and Kate's US trip discussed by Schofield
On December 6, just four days after the Earthshot Prize Award Ceremony, Meghan and Harry are expected to receive an award for their “heroic” stance in standing against “structural racism” within the Royal Family.
This is reportedly in response to their bombshell sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.
During the interview, the couple made a series of allegations against the Royal Family, with Meghan telling the host that an unnamed member of the family expressed their concern over the colour of their then-unborn son’s skin. The interview received worldwide criticism.
