William and Kate turn to new royal couple as pair shut out Harry and Meghan
Prince Edward and Sophie arrive at Royal Ascot
Prince William and Princess Kate have formed a close bond with Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit as senior members of the Royal Family, a royal expert has claimed.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said the Prince and Princess of Wales can confide in the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh as they all value each other.
She told OK!: “Sometimes it seems strange to realise that these are two different generations of royals as they seem much closer.
“But, especially after all that has happened – not only with the queen’s death but with Harry and Meghan leaving and Andrew getting ‘sacked’ – the two couples have formed a tight bond.”
And she added that both William and Kate “feel they can confide in Edward and Sophie and there are so few people a royal can entrust with their thoughts and feelings.”

“She is so easy to be with as William obviously appreciates, which is why he invited her to Battersea Power Station with him.
“And Sophie and Catherine have developed a friendship which I think both value highly,” the expert said.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were once dubbed the royal “Fab Four” after making public appearances together.
But ever since Harry and Meghan moved to the US and released bombshells about the Royal Family, their relationship with Kate and William has taken its toll.
It comes as Palace insiders claimed William and Kate are still “furious” at Harry over his allegations that his brother physically assaulted him.

Harry claimed in his book, Spare, how William physically attacked him and “grabbed him by the collar” during an altercation in 2019.
He wrote: “It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor.
“I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”
But another royal expert suggested a possible reunion between the four is “highly unlikely” any time soon.
Former royal butler Grant Harrold said that while a reunion could be possible, particularly after Queen Elizabeth’s death, it would be more of a “PR stunt”.
He said: “It looks good and that’s great but actions speak louder than words so I think for people to believe it is healed they need to be seen.”
