William and Kate pinpoint key factor to boost wellbeing on Mental Health Day
Prince William and Princess Kate arrived in Birmingham today where they will host a youth forum to mark World Mental Health Day.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have been advocating mental health awareness on numerous occasions throughout their royal careers and feel passionately about ensuring people feel able to openly talk about the subject.
They want to get the message across that, in order to boost our resilience and our overall mental wellbeing, we need to strengthen our ability to recognise and manage our emotions.
Today’s event, named “Exploring our Emotional Worlds”, focuses on how understanding our own emotions and building positive relationships can serve as a solid foundation of our mental wellbeing.
During the forum, around 100 young people, representing 10 mental health and youth engagement charities in the country will share their stories about the mental health challenges their generation faces.

William and Kate want to give young people a voice so they can explore what more they could do to understand and manage their emotions better, while also discussing possible solutions so they can look after their own each other’s mental wellbeing.
The royal pair are set to take part in a series of workshops focused on emotions, relationships and community action along with the young participants.
Last year, the royals participated in a special episode of BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat for World Mental Health Day, where they spoke to four youngsters about mental health.
It comes as William and Kate’s Royal Foundation revealed new evidence of a generation of young people in crisis in the country.
The new research suggested that Britain’s youth are still suffering.
