The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be doing things “their own way” while “respecting” royal tradition, commentators have claimed. Prince William and Kate’s “hope to shape” the monarchy for their future reign is said to be exemplified in their parenting style. Channel 5 documentary, ‘Kate: Our Queen in Waiting’, discussed how Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis’ childhoods differed from past royal upbringings.
Vanity Fair Royal Editor Katie Nicholl told viewers: “The brilliant thing about the Duchess of Cambridge is that she’s bringing a modern touch to the role.
“But she is respecting all of the traditions that come with being a future queen.”
Narrator David Riley added: “While Kate has followed some royal traditions, there are times when she’s quietly done things her own way.
“When it comes to her children, Kate’s taken a very direct role in their upbringing.”
He continued: “This very modern, hands-on approach has endeared her to a generation of parents across the country.
“It also sets the tone for the monarchy that she and William hope to shape in the future.”
Royal journalist Victoria Murphy gave insight: “The way that they’re bringing up their children really does emulate Kate’s upbringing much more strongly than William’s upbringing.
“I think it does also offer a lot of ways in which to be relatable to the general public.”
Prince George ‘England’s royal lucky charm’ says commentator
Filmmaker and broadcaster Bidisha explained: “Kate is a dedicated, hands-on, very affectionate mother.
“I think she’s made it clear through her behaviour that being a mother is her main priority.
“She’s providing a warmth as a parent that isn’t always present in the Royal Family.”

Prince George’s education has been an example of the Cambridges taking a different approach.
Many commentators expected the future king to be sent to a boarding school.
This has been the case for past royals, followed by a stint at Eton or Gordonstoun.
However, Kate and William chose private primary school Thomas’s Battersea.
Daily Mail Editor-at-Large Richard Kay claimed that the decision for his next school will be kept “very private for as long as they can”.
