Tom Bradby accompanied the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their royal tour of Africa in 2019. The ITV reporter, a friend of the royals, landed an exclusive interview with the couple, in which they revealed their unhappiness with life inside the Firm. Harry went public about the strained relations between himself and William, admitting that they were on “different paths”.
Meghan would also reveal that she was not “okay” and had felt extremely vulnerable during her pregnancy.
Mr Bradby told The Times that the rift did not happen just overnight and was long in the making.
He said: “It used to be quite a straightforward thing, right, because they weren’t arguing and life was simple.
“And then it just slowly descended into something that was difficult personally and publicly – really over the past year and a half.”
Harry would later confirm to Oprah Winfrey in the CBS interview that he and William were still miles apart.
The Duke of Sussex said that their relationship was “space” at the moment, but insisted that he still loved his older brother.
The two met up for the first time in almost a year at the funeral of their grandfather Prince Philip in April.
They were filmed talking together by the world’s media, raising hopes of a reconciliation.
However, a royal expert said that though a welcome step, there remained a lot of healing to be done.

Robert Jobson told Us Weekly: “I do think they did actually talk, and if there was a rebuilding of their relationship — well, it was a baby step, and that’s fine.
“Ultimately, Harry was only there to pay his last respects to his grandfather, who was a great man, and whether or not there was a rebuilding between William and Harry … that’s going to show over time.”
Prince Harry returned to California shortly after the funeral to be with his pregnant wife Meghan and baby son Archie.
