Wife's mugshot grin 'after shooting husband for refusing to stop divorce'
A woman allegedly shot her estranged husband after he refused to call off their divorce and save their marriage.
With bruise-blackened eyes, Christina Pasqualetto, 62, grinned in a mugshot after being arrested in the shooting of her husband Jon Pasqualetto, 80.
Christina admitted that she did not want to get divorced from Jon and that she drove from their home in Gilbert to their Prescott home in Arizona where he was living after being separated for months.
Jon told cops that Christina entered the bedroom of the home, where he had changed the locks, and that they got into an argument about the divorce.
‘When he told her that he still wanted to get a divorce and wasn’t changing his mind, she produced a handgun and shot him while he was still in bed,’ stated the Prescott Police Department.
Jon managed to knock his wife down and she lost grasp of the gun.
‘During that time the victim did strike the suspect with his hands and elbows to escape the situation,’ stated the police department.
Jon ran to a neighbor’s home, where he dialed 911.
Cops who arrived at the 200 block of Thoroughbred Drive on Wednesday found Jon with a gunshot wound on his wrist. He was treated at the scene and rushed to a local hospital, then airlifted with non-life-threatening injuries to a Phoenix area hospital.
Jon said he changed the locks of their home in Prescott but that his keys were missing, as well as other items, and he suspected that Christina had taken them.
Christina also stole checks and forged a $10,000 check that she cashed the week before, according to Jon.
The wife admitted to theft and forgery and cops found a deposit slip in her purse matching the transaction.
Christina was charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, theft and forgery and was booked into Yavapai County Jail.
