When Princes Harry and William contemplated marrying their respective wives, both had to seek the permission of the Queen. Due to their bloodline, the Queen’s children and grandchildren must consult Her Majesty on certain issues. The Queen granted both Harry and William formal consent for both their marriages.

As stated at the time of William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge’s engagement: “Our Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince William Arthur Philip Louis of Wales, KG and Our Trusty and Well-beloved Catherine Elizabeth Middleton.”

Under the Royal Marriages Act all Royal Family members must seek the consent of the monarch in order to marry.

However, following a change to the law in 2013 only the first six people in the line of succession must seek the monarch’s consent.

As it stands, Harry remains the sixth in line to the throne and the last royal who need to seek the Queen’s permission.

With Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice 10th and ninth in line to the throne, they will not need to.

Recently, Eugenie married long-term boyfriend Jack Brooksbank at Windsor Castle last October.

Since her wedding, her mother, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York has been forced to deny rumours that the princess is pregnant.

Speaking to a gathering at the home American businessman, Ernie Boch junior, her mother denied the rumours.

She said: “What else can I tell you?

“No, she’s not pregnant.”

Sarah has also stated in the past that she is excited at becoming a grandmother.

Despite being divorced from Prince Andrew, Duke of York, the two still share a luxury chalet while Sarah has also stated that the pair are “examples of good parenting’.
