Over 200 flood warnings are in place across England as the country deals with the aftermath of weather that has seen heavy rain batter the North of England and the Midlands in the last 24 hours.

Doncaster is one of the locations worst hit by the rain, with severe ‘danger to life’ flood warnings issued at four different locations along the River Don.

Kirk Bramwith, Kirk Sandall, South Bramwith and Willow Bridge caravan site are all under the red, severe warnings issued and as a result Doncaster council have advised residents along the river near St Oswald Church to evacuate their homes with immediate effect.

Northern Rail have also reported a likely ‘severe disruption’ to their network today and elsewhere traffic chaos is expected as the floods have caused road closures.

As well as flooded roads, streets, homes and gardens have also been pictured totally submerged in water after torrential rain overnight.

Where are there flood warnings in place in England?

At the time of writing, a total of 120 red alert flood warnings remain in place – five of which are severe flood warnings with a ‘danger to life’ alert issued.

These five severe flood warnings remain in place around the River Don at Kirk Bramwith, Kirk Sandall, South Bramwith and Willow Bridge caravan site and also Barnby Dun.

The other flood warnings that remain in place are mainly centred around Yorkshire, with Leeds, Sheffield and the surrounding areas badly hit.

Rivers in danger of flooding and with flood warnings attached this morning include the River Dearne, the River Derwent, the River Don, River Lovley and River Rother.

There are also 118 amber flood warnings currently in place, which means that flooding is possible and those in the area should be prepared. Amber flood warnings stretch from the south coast up through the Midlands to the North of England as far as Newcastle.
