When is the next lockdown update in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland?
It is understood the roadmap out of lockdown in Scotland will be published this week.
Speaking on February 16, first minister Nicola Sturgeon said: ‘I can confirm that the Scottish Government is currently preparing a revised strategic framework, which will set out in much more detail when and how we might gradually emerge from this lockdown.
‘We hope to publish this new framework next week, probably at this time next week, following discussions with the other parties in parliament, and also with business organisations, trade unions, third sector bodies and others.’
The Welsh government is expected to review the country’s restrictions on Friday, March 12, while the next review in Northern Ireland will take place on March 18.
What is Boris Johnson expected to say during today’s press conference?
This is the press conference where the ‘roadmap’ will be revealed.
Boris Johnson spent the weekend working with scientists on the most recent data to finalise the move out of lockdown.
The roadmap will set out gradual steps for easing measures over the next five months, with schools expected to reopen first and pubs and restaurants last.
No 10 sources said on Friday that two households will potentially be allowed to socialise outdoors by Easter weekend, which starts with Good Friday on April 2.
Plans for school reopenings are expected to be much more detailed, as the government has previously said its aim was to get all pupils back in the classroom by March 8. It’s not clear whether this will happen all at once, or in a staggered return.
There will likely also be more details on meeting family and friends outside – with some suggestion that the ‘rule of six’ may eventually return.
