She is thought to be the oldest Briton to survive after being struck down with the disease.

Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust said Connie Titchen had been sent home from hospital.

The great-grandmother had been admitted to hospital around a month ago with suspected pneumonia. She was quickly diagnosed with coronavirus.

She said: “I feel very lucky that I’ve fought off this virus. I can’t wait to see my family.”
