Wetherspoons may close another 22 pubs and your local could be on the list
Wetherspoons is shutting down another 22 pubs after already closing 28 so far this year.
The pub giant denied their decision to close some of their branches was part of a ‘money-raising exercise’.
They said ‘almost all’ of the pubs being closed were in areas where there was another one close by.
On its pre-close trading update, Wetherspoons said: ‘Twenty-two pubs remain on the market, or are under offer. The company currently has a trading estate of 827 pubs.’
But they have not confirmed which pubs are set to be sold.
There are however 14 pubs listed as for sale or under offer.
All sites listed will remain open as a Wetherspoons branch until a sale has been completed.
Another eight pubs were said to be ‘available’, which means they are up for sale and could be saved if a buyer is found.

The chain has already shut 28 pubs this financial year.
Fifteen of these had a lease expire or a ‘break clause’ was reached in a contract.
Some 12 of these also had another branch nearby.
Wetherspoons has been contacted for comment.
