Shocking footage has captured the moment Insulate Britain protesters descended onto the main carriageway of the M25 as fast-moving cars braked and swerved to avoid an accident. The actions of the Insulate Britain mob triggered chaos for rush-hour commuters travelling in both directions along the M25 near Woking, though both lanes have since been cleared. Police attempted to drag protestors of the road one by one onto the hard shoulder and out of the path of vehicles.
Officers from Surrey Police can be seen in the footage doggedly attempting to remove the activist and their banners from the high-speed lanes.
The demonstrations did not appear to resist the police and went limp as they were dragged off, though some managed to rush back onto the carriageway as officers attempt to kettle them on the hard shoulder.
Surrey Police said: “Two lanes on both clockwise and anticlockwise carriageways of the M25 between junctions 9 and 10 are now fully re-opened after officers cleared all of the Insulate Britain protesters off of the road.”
On Monday one enraged motorist told the protestors: “Why the hell do you think this is the right thing to do?
“I know what you’re fighting, I completely agree, this is a really, really good idea, but this is not the way to do it.
“You’re causing more pollution with all these cars sitting here just doing f*** all.
“You’re making people hate you. Go and protest London, go down to Downing Street.”
