In videos and photos shared on social media, tens of thousands of protestors were seen gathering and marching without face masks on. The protestors, holding banners and chanting “freedom”, are marching through central London.

Those in attendance are protesting against coronavirus lockdowns and vaccine passports.

The Met Police confirmed at least eight officers were injured as the protest turned violent and five people were arrested.

A statement from the police said: “Eight officers were injured as they worked to disperse crowds at Hyde Park this evening.

“Two officers were taken to hospital.

“Thankfully, they are not beleived to be seriously injured.

“Five people were arrested for offences including assault on police and are now in custody.”

But following the protest, many have claimed the protestors will be quick to have a vaccine if they are banned from travelling abroad.

One Express.co.uk reader said: “Most of them refuse to have the jab.

“Wait until they can’t travel abroad without proof of having a jab, they will stampede to the doctors to get one, and their principles will be out the window!!

“Waste of space all of them!!”

Another person said: “All of the useless and pointless in one place at the same time … this group represents all that is rotten with this nation.

“In Contrast … Millions of other good people are working hard today to do their bit to get us through and over this Global Disaster.”

Someone else branded them “Covidiots” and said the protest is the reason why “lockdowns and restrictions are still in place”.

A fourth Express.co.uk reader said: “The way they are acting it won’t be long before tighter lockdowns will be needed.”

Another said all the people at the protest should be “arrested and fined” at a level which they cannot afford.

Someone else said: “God have they got nothing better to do.

“London is a cesspit populated by too many people whose main objective in life is to create chaos and anarchy, as a country we allow these people to operate too freely.”

A sixth person said: “We want freedom.

“Yes freedom to catch COVID and to spread it to others who obey the rules.

“Many are professional protestors.

“They will protest about anything and love sowing discontent.”

Another person added: “Absolutely shocking behaviour.

“They will be the ones moaning if we go into another lockdown but they will be the cause of it.

“What is wrong with covid passports until the all-clear?

“Typical of the Corbyn numpties. Not a brain between them.”

Piers Corbyn, the older brother of former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, was spotted at the protest.

Mr Corbyn has been a vocal critic of Covid lockdowns and in May 2020 he was arrested at an anti-lockdown protest.

He gathered alongside hundreds of others to object to their rights of free speech and movement being curtailed.

Colourful banners and posters were carried by the protestors, advocating for an immediate end to lockdown rules.
