A man had the shock of his life when a bear strolled up to him on his sun lounger.
David Oppenheimer was reading a book on his driveway in North Carolina when the curious bear started exploring his property.
Surveillance footage shows the animal creeping up to the oblivious David – standing just several feet away from him.
Terrified, he recoiled as he eventually laid eyes on the bear, quickly grabbing a plush pillow to defend himself.
This caused the bear to look up at him, and the two stared each other down for an excruciating second.
But the bear, apparently bored by David, groaned and sulked off.
Over in California, a group of bears were discovered under a home after ‘snoring-like’ noises were ignored for months.
The furry family found a crawl-space under the property that was ‘just right’ to settle in ahead of winter.
The human occupants chose to ignore the sounds as they ‘simply didn’t make sense’.
A team from Bear League, a nonprofit group dedicated to helping humans and bears live in ‘harmony’, found a mother and four young cubs in the crawl space.
They wrote on Facebook: ‘When it came time to go to sleep for the winter she [the mother bear] found a house with an unsecured crawl space opening and ushered all the kids inside and told them to be quiet and go to sleep.
‘It was a home where people lived and they thought they heard some odd rumbling, snoring-like noises but ignored it because it simply didn’t make sense.’
