If your child is finding maths a little on the tricky side, there is a way you can help them practice at home.

Maths-Whizz is an online tutoring service and is designed to help children aged between five and 13. The service is used in a number of schools up and down the UK so it will have their teacher’s seal of approval.

Rather than having a real life person helping your child, Maths-Whizz is all done online. It can be used on the computer, tablet or mobile and is not much different from the games you’ve more than likely downloaded for your child to play for entertainment.

Maths-Whizz works out which level (or “maths age”) your child is at and will also work out what areas they could improve on.

Your child will be given interactive games based on the subjects they need to revise. By completing these games they will earn points to spend on customising their own personal avatar.

Studies have shown that children who play on Maths-Whizz for just one hour per week over the course of a year accelerate their learning by 18 months.

Maths-Whizz is offering a 7 day free trial of tutoring. After that, if you want to sign up you can use the promo code ‘MATHS20’ for 20% off.

Richard Marett, CEO of Whizz Education said: “Having spoken to many teachers and parents recently, the feedback has been that learning loss experienced by students during the pandemic has been felt most acutely in maths.

“By completing the initial assessment in our virtual tutor, Maths-Whizz, parents will find out the ‘maths age’ of their child, a clear guide to how far forward or behind their child is performing.

“Not only that, the parent dashboard shows how their child is faring in different areas of maths.

“Having completed the assessment, the virtual tutor creates an individualised programme for each child to redress their weakness and push them forward, creating a solid base for more complex maths in later years.”
