Video shows trains travelling to beaches are just as packed
It wasn’t just beaches that were absolutely jammed today.
Videos show how trains travelling to the beauty spots were also packed, making it impossible for people to social distance.
Twitter user Mary Ann shared footage of a train in Kent, saying: ‘Just in case you wanted to go to the seaside on weekend, look how the train to Margate looks on Thursday #socialdistancing.’
Amanda Dixon shared a separate video of Bournemouth Station, saying: ‘Absolutely shocking! How much rubbish and sh*t will be left on the beach today!’
Hundreds of people can be seen streaming out of a train and over the railway bridge.

Likewise, in the Margate video the transport network looks very crowded with people standing in the aisles.
It comes as a major incident was declared in Bournemouth as thousands of people defied public health advice and flocked to beaches.
Dorset Police have now issued dispersal orders allowing them to clear the coastline, according to Bournemouth MP Tobias Ellwood.
Council Leader Vikki Slade said: ‘We are absolutely appalled at the scenes witnessed on our beaches, particularly at Bournemouth and Sandbanks, in the last 24-48 hours.
‘The irresponsible behaviour and actions of so many people is just shocking and our services are stretched to the absolute hilt trying to keep everyone safe. We have had no choice now but to declare a major incident and initiate an emergency response.’
England’s Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty warned this evening that the public must stick to social distancing guidelines or coronavirus cases ‘will rise again’.
He wrote on Twitter: ‘Covid-19 has gone down due to the efforts of everyone but is still in general circulation. If we do not follow social distancing guidance then cases will rise again.
‘Naturally people will want to enjoy the sun but we need to do so in a way that is safe for all.’
