Uncle of girl, 10, found dead at home 'told Pakistan police how she died'

The uncle of a 10-year-old girl found dead at her home in Surrey has told police she ‘fell down the stairs and broke her neck’.

Sara Sharif was found dead at her home in Woking on August 10.

Her father Urfan Sharif, uncle Imran Sharif, and her father’s partner Beinash Batool flew to Pakistan with five other children the day before her body was found.

The three are wanted for questioning by British police – and earlier today Jhelum police in Pakistan located Imran Sharif and detained him for questioning, Sky News reports.

The force said he has not been arrested or charged, but that he is assisting police in finding his brother Urfan.

A post mortem did not reveal Sara’s exact cause of death, but it revealed she had suffered ‘multiple and extensive injuries’ which were ‘likely to have been caused over a sustained and extended period of time’, Surrey Police said.

But her uncle, Imran, has reportedly told police in Pakistan she fell down the stairs and broke her neck.

He is alleged to have told officers: ‘Beinash was home with the children. Sara fell down the stairs and broke her neck. Beinash panicked and phoned Urfan.’

Imran also claimed he found out what happened to Sara through the media, and that Urfan told their parents the British authorities were going to take his children away from him.
