New figures from the Office for National Statistics reveal that gas prices have shot up by a massive 926 percent when compared with pre-coronavirus levels. 

Gas prices are now nearly ten times what they were in February 2020, the new statistics show using data from the National Grid. 

At the start of 2020, the System Average Price (SAP) of gas was 1.032p per kilowatt hour (p/kWh)

It now sits at 8.472p/kWh, as of September 25 2022.

The price boost also represents a 50 percent increase when compared with the equivalent period from September 2021.

The ONS notes that these figures reflect trading prices on the day, which may be subject to fluctuations.

The rolling average for September 18, the most recent day for which the figure is available, was 10.827p/kWh.
