The family’s teenage daughter called her dad in fear after finding the creature while taking a shower. Stopping the horrifying ordeal, the dad placed a bowl over the top of the spider – preventing it from causing any more chaos in the house.

The creature was so big, some compared it to the “size of a rat”.

The horrified daughter’s dad posted images of the monster on the Spotted Coventry City Facebook page.

He wrote: “Daughter was having a shower and this spider decided to share it with her.

“I assume it’s a giant house spider, correct me if I’m wrong.

“Daughter is still recovering.”

But house spiders are not a rare sight in the UK.

The creatures tend to use houses as a way of hiding from potential predators outside.

All across the UK, it is said there are 650 species of spider, in all shapes and sizes.
