Two women raped and stabbed during 'coordinated' attacks on same night

Two women have been raped and stabbed in separate attacks in the same town less than two miles apart.

Shortly after 8pm last night two women were found at a home in Bournemouth, one with stab wounds and another with a neck injury.

It was reported that a rape took place during the attack and both of them were rushed to hospital, however none of their injuries are thought to be life-threatening.

Just before midnight, police were then called just a few miles away to a woman left on a road with a knife wound, who was also believed to have been raped.

Detectives have since arrested two men, aged 29, and 37, from Poole and Bournemouth, respectively.

They were caught as the result of two separate investigations, but authorities now believe the two attacks to be linked and are asking anyone with useful information to come forward.

Cordons have been put in place while forensic officers comb both crime scenes for evidence.

Bournemouth CID’s Detective Superintendent Stewart Dipple said: ‘A detailed investigation is underway into both of these incidents, which at this time are being treated as linked.

‘I am appealing to anyone who was in the area of either Maxwell Road or Vale Road at the relevant times and saw what happened to please get in touch.

‘I would also ask any motorists who have a dashcam fitted to their vehicle and were travelling in the areas to check their footage for anything relevant to assist my enquiries.’

‘There will be an increased police presence in the vicinity over the coming days and officers can be approached by members of the community with any concerns.’

A Dorset Police spokesperson added: ‘Detectives investigating two alleged serious assaults in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

‘Both arrested men are currently assisting detectives with their enquiries.’
