Two passengers rescued after their Audi TT becomes wedged
A photograph from the scene shows the low-slung sports car almost completely underneath the lorry.
The Audi’s roof was severely damaged in the accident which occurred on Newstead Industrial Estate in Stoke-on-Trent.
Reports suggest the incident occurred on Alderflat Drive.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Sunday, April 30, at around 4.50pm.
When they arrived at the scene, firefighters were able to cut the two occupants free.
Police said there were no serious injuries. Following the crash, a woman was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital as a precaution, while the man was discharged at the scene.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “We were called to Alderflat Drive, Trentham, at 4.50pm on Sunday following reports of a collision. A blue Audi TT had become stuck underneath an HGV following a collision.
“We went to the scene alongside firefighters from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service who managed to rescue a man and a woman from inside the car.”

They added: “They were not seriously injured. A woman was taken to hospital as a precaution. Both vehicles have since been recovered.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 4.41 pm on Sunday to a road traffic collision involving a car and an HGV on Plantation Road. One ambulance, a paramedic officer, a Critical Care Car from Midland Air Ambulance and a BASICS emergency doctor attended the scene.
“Upon arrival, we found two patients, a man and a woman. The woman had sustained non-life-threatening injuries. She received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene and was conveyed to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further assessment.
“The man did not require treatment from ambulance staff and was discharged at the scene.”
